Welcome to Pompeii Italian Ristorante! Whether it's pasta, chicken, veal, steak or eggplant the Uher brothers have enjoyed many meals of Italian food in restaurants and homes prepared by real Italians.
In addition Chef Jeff has made friends over the internet with several people in the Naples and Sorrento area of Italy who continue to share recipes. One is a woman in her late 80's that owned a restaurant with her brother for many years in Naples. These recipes have been wonderful additions to the menu. These are Authentic Ingredients - Authentic Recipes - Authentic Taste.
So stop in and enjoy a meal like you would have in a real neighborhood Italian restaurant. Fun, casual, relaxing and with the variety to please everyone. As with everything the Uher's do the ingredients used at Pompeii are the finest and freshest that can be found.
Pompeii is an area of ruins found close to Naples. It is famous for its ruins left after the city was destroyed by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. The city was largely forgotten until the mid 18th century and has been being excavated ever since. Mount Vesuvius is the only volcano on the European mainland to have erupted in the last 100 years. The other two volcanoes in Italy, Stromboli and Etna are on islands.
The history of Pompei and the surrounding area (Campania) is rich and long. Its focus is not entirely Italian and people of the region often refer to themselves as Campanians or Neapolitans first before they refer to their being a part of Italy.
